Glad you're OK man. A lot of bus drivers drive as if licensed by god himself, and feel like they can do no wrong because of the "precious cargo" they're hauling around. Hopefully you won't be charged with corruption of minors for frightening the little dearies.

In Ohio its 25mph right now but a slow moving vehicle sign is required on the back. If it goes over 25mph it's supposed to be licensed unless it is not road legal for other reason for example over width.
That 25 mph may be raised to 30mph because some tractors with active suspension and most rubber tracked tractors can go 30 mph. Some as fast as 45 mph.

wow 45 on a tractor is scary, actually 25 on a tractor is scary (i've never been on one with suspension)

I wonder if they expect you to have the orange triangle on a bike . . .

Wow, that is scary, so the bus driver swerved in front of you into the wrong lane of the road?! Does sound like you would have a case for a lawsuit, but I have no experience with that stuff.
I don't know if you do this already, hopefully you do, but practicing your bike handling skills is a must. I have raced x-country and downhill and I still go fool around in a parking lot experimenting with max lean angles and maximum braking on pavement. A well set up V-brake on the front should be able to keep your back tire an 1" off the ground using 1 or 2 fingers with your butt behind the seat to get your weight back. 30mph is fast but you should almost be able to stop as fast as a car with practice, something like 4 or 5 parking space widths.
Your back tire should just be touching the ground if you are stopping in a straight line. If you are turning then the back brake comes into play.
Hope your back on the bike soon!
Ian
