Kia Forte Grill Block
I finally got around to making my grill block. I thought about using coroplast, but I the more I looked at my grill, the more I thought about using a different material.
1.) The grill is many small diamond shaped holes.
2.) I figured spray foam would work pretty well to fill those holes.
3.) First coat filled the gaps pretty well, though it did take a second coat.
4.) Close up. There are still some holes here, and the foam isn't flush with the grill yet. A second application took care of that just fine. I then had to sand the foam flush with the grill.
5.) Almost finished product. I sanded down the excess foam so it was flush and coated in with a paint on bedliner that my dad had left over from doing the bed of his truck.
It's not a perfect product, mostly because I didn't take the time to completely fill each hole, but the upper grill is completely blocked and it's mostly stealthy to boot. I'd call the whole thing a success so far. I just have to see how it holds up over time with exposure to heat from the engine.
And just for clarification, the outer edges of the grill were already solid from the factory, which is why I didn't foam those areas.
All in all, I spent about $8 on the foam and it only took about an hour of my time to make. Not too bad.
