Yes... I posted a U-tub video on Cruzetalk of the coolant boiling in the turbo after shutdown. After doing some researching, I found this thermosiphoning is pretty much common in all water cooled turbo installations.
Having said that, I bet that housing still gets pretty hot, even with coolant boiling through it. Even more so if shutting down immediately following a period of high load. I may consider fitting a small coolant pump in line with the turbo water line and putting it on a timer so it runs for a minute or so after engine shut off.
I'm using Mobil1 synthetic, so
hopefully it's a little more "coke" resistant than ordinary oils... even other Dexos options.
