Lead Acid Battery - 0.0V. Dead?

Only way to know would be to desulphate it and see what happens, more than likely toast.

i noticed on days it wouldn't work right on acc i had a volts gauge.. it was showing 8 volts and wouldn't crank over.. i disconnected battery picked it up and shook it alot. put it back in.. 12 volts, fired right up.. could this be a sign of bad plates or what is going on?
