Leaning out a dumb FI system

My Burgman has what is considered a "dumb" FI system... ie, it has no oxygen sensor to provide feedback to the computer for running in closed loop operation. Therefore it always runs in open loop.

Although this bike has an IAC motor, it doesn't seem to use it, and the TB has a brass screw for adjusting the idle, which basically just opens an air passage in the TB.

After cleaning the TB earlier this week, I decided to see what happens when I let more air into the system. So far, no noticeable driveability issues, and the lean spot at 3k RPM seems to have crept up to 3.2k.

We'll see how it goes.

Is this an air cooled bike? If so, watch out for excessive heat. In fact, even if it is liquid cooled, watch out. You could melt some stuff if you aren't careful.

Water-cooled. And it's been into the red before, without damage. Tough little thing it is.

'Zuki's are good bikes... the motors are engineered for a beating, from what I can tell.

My friend's brother has a GS500-F and tanks redline all day on it... Screams like crazy down the road... he's raced it, put N2O through it, and I guess now he's working on getting some booooooost. Crazy kid.
