A 10% weight reduction yields slightly better than 2% mpg increase at 70-mph.
Most automakers have plucked the weight reduction low-hanging fruit.
To properly do fiberglass,you're looking at a full-scale 'male' plug,from which the 'female' mold can be made,in which the actual part is layed-up.
It's a great deal of work and expensive if your time is worth anything to you.
