umm, another aspect, if the engine didn't have to run the ac, it wouldn't be burning as much fuel and making as much heat.

I'm a bit of a pansy I guess in that i hate driving without AC in 90+ degree weather. But I don't like it to be cold, either. the auto AC controller in my Maxima seems to cut the compressor on and off as needed, but i generally cycle it off manually to keep it off as much as possible.

Low blower setting and occasionally turning the compressor off manually works well on an older system. But I also like to use the compressor to aid in engine braking; it's like free ac, instead of heating the brakes I'm heating the evaporator.
