Loop onto carbon fiber?

I have a construction idea that may require attaching flexible loops onto flat plate carbon fiber. I’m interested in any opinion on how this can be done without the cured epoxy cutting into the ‘rope’. My first thought is tying a loop of Kevlar thread, applying heat shrink over the knot and laying a few strips of carbon cloth over the heat shrink to permanently attach the loop. The strength of this attachment is not nearly as important as flexibility and weight for this application.
