Magical Fuel Savers
Since it's easier to criticize than create, and reading comprehension seems not to be a strong suit around here, I hereby abandon this topic.

Cars are very different underneath.
And it's a bit involved to get it off the ground to work on it. Being a bit too involved, it also doesn't really fit the no effort / magical benefit scheme. |

If it's used over a skin as a turbulator we fall into the one-size-fits-all conundrum, presuming that all vehicles, and all points on them have identical boundary layer thickness.Which also doesn't pass the smell test. A good fast back or square back doesn't suffer separation,so this 'film' would be limited to notch backs which already have VGs engineered for and efficacy demonstrated. So what did the manufacturer miss? And would Barbie and Ken want it on their Fashionista GT? |

Okay! I re-read the part about being 'under' the car. So you're advocating a perforated belly pan after the professional aerodynamicists with Ph.Ds in mechanical engineering who have spent a career around world-class wind tunnels exploring low drag and have published books that say 'don't use perforated panels anywhere,at anytime'? |
I was reading through and right at the bottom of the original post was:
"improve fuel economy by 20%" www.fuelxxxxx.ca "more power less fuel" ?_?_??_? - ?? "$69 Kia optima chip, 60 hp +7mpg" ccccc.com see the adds are supporting your point! |
Maybe this needs to go back to the Unicorn Corral?

* the ease of fitment argument of the perforated material would be a non-starter as much as an argument that an empty plate of food would be easier and quicker to consume than a full plate of food. *Quite literally,a would-be fabricator would 'see right through' the argument. *That's not to say that you couldn't get rich selling the stuff. There's no shortage of fools.People are still buying uber-lubes with PTF and continue to attest to its benefit. *You probably won't get much traction here at the 'Forum' though. There's just no 'science' to support any claims you could make as to efficacy. *And you'd want to always watch your back. PS,your 'NON-PERFORATED' technology has been superseded by coroplast.I have no idea how you could reverse the popularity of this material which has already made it under so many vehicles. |

So you're saying belly pans don't work at all no matter what they're made of and that nobody should ever attempt to assemble & market any sort of kit with some/most of the work already done... or.. um.. they have to "watch their back" ? |
No, I believe he said why mess with perforated material when you can use regular choroplast and get better results. Unless you have better, which seems unlikely.
