Mazda mx6 2.0 rebuild

Hi I have a 93 mx6 with a 2.0L I4 that I am rebuilding and I would like to make it more powerful while making it more efficient. I am going to get rid of the power steering pump, the ac system and having it balanced and was thinking about using gapless piston rings. Any other ideas?
