Mercedes-Benz T80
I'm sure this is on here somewhere, but it was an interesting article. The Germans had some amazing insight and technology at the time.
Officially sanctioned by Adolf Hitler - the amazing Mercedes-Benz T80

I have the 100th anniversary book from Mercedes dated 1986 that has that picture in the book. It has been posted on this forum years ago, so long ago it is probably not retrievable.
I'll add some pictures, including one of Mercedes Jellnick, age 11, the name sake of Mercedes, whose father ordered a years production of the factory in 1901.
regards
mech

Sad caption is sad; two failed marriages and never saw 40.
I think hand hammered aluminum is my favorite finish. It looks great under that dramatic lighting.

The bare aluminum originated when they built a grand prix car that was something like a kilo overweight, so they stripped the paint off and ran without paint.

Those German Mercedes from the 30's are beautiful. Does anyone remember the name of the famous race car driver from that time frame?

There was a driver,Bernd Rosemeyer who was killed during competition of an Auto Union (AUDI) racer.
The designer specified a particular sheetmetal thickness.Auto Union fabricated with thinner section.Alex Tremulis believed that the thinner metal's shape distorted at speed, altering it's shape, causing instability and the crash.
