When I made my temporary tail, I put a piece of 2x2 tubing into the receiver hitch. Pinned that in and used the trailer plug to re-locate tail lights, license plate lights, etc. Relocated the plate.
I could see a system where you install the tubing piece and then pin on the rest of the fairing to that tube so you don't have to crawl under there to hook things up.
