Millenials' elevator

Chrysler declares it “next-generation transportation designed by millennials for millennials.” The Portal will be unveiled at the 2017 CES in Vegas. An attractive one-box styled EV autonomous minivan, interestingly has four sliding doors opening/closing at opposite directions - a horizontally-moving elevator! The configurable interior can be used for 'work' or entertainment activities. With integrated camera, microphone/speaker and sensor systems, it is operated by voice, gesture and facial commands customized to each individual passenger. Oh boy, constant selfies.

I got a similar notice but not as explanatory. I like that door operation since dumb people park too damn close to my minivan and tend to *whack* it. This is in the rendering stage; but it sure is a neat idea not to struggle with seat belts hanging right in the way!

I'm a few years away from the cutoff for "Millennials", but I dig it anyway.

Heck, I'm a year too old to be a Boomer and I like it. The overall architecture, with the big X over the rear wheels, the 'bionic' roof, the wrap-under taillight. It's like Chrysler Corp taking another shot at the iconic 23-window bus.

It's pitched to the millennials because that's who's buying cars down the road....if anybody is buying cars. The good news is they have selfie sticks they can use to clean the bottom half of the inside of the windshield.

I think I've seen more Boomers and Gen-Xers with selfi-sticks in hand than Millennials.

Millennials should have a decent interest in cars, but I suspect Gen Z will have waning interest, and Gen Alpha might have as much use for cars as most of us have for a woodstove.

It's funny you should mention wood stoves. I haven't had one in four decades, but I'm looking for an alternative to bottled gas to supplement my all-electric lifestyle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aprovecho

Quote:
Since 2001, Aprovecho Research Center has worked on designs for cook stoves, primarily for use in developing countries. They are best known for the Rocket stove, developed by Ianto Evans and their technical director Dr. Larry Winiarski.
So the Rocket stove is a 21st century invention. It will be used by generations yet un-named.

Edit: and here's the first selfie stick, in an 1969 Czech Science fiction movie
