mod to the rear deck lid

I was thinking, if i were to go to the junk yard and get a spare rear deck lid to play with i could cut out most of the flat section and contour around the tail lights and form a sloping rear in the center of the car and i wouldn't have to cut into the uni-body at all. if i left a little bit of a lip for the air to slip off of i could probably get rid of 2 or 3 square feet of vertical area off the back of the car as well as have an easy solution to filling the holes left in my current deck lid from the removal of the rear spoiler.

anyway let me know what i am missing because this seems like a really simple idea.

Post pictures of your current car. In particular, get back more than 75 feet and take a side picture looking straight at the top of the rear window or c-pillar area, this way we can analyze the current aero shape of your rig. But in general, I'd guess this to be a bad idea what you want to do, it has to do with keeping your car as close to the ideal aero shape as possible, and making a drastic down angle in the back isn't usually a good thing. You may in fact want to put the spoiler back on.
