Momentary switch to kill fuel
Im trying to EOC without turning off my ECU then turning it to the on position again after the engine is off. Id like to just kill the engine. My question is, has anyone wired up a switch to the fuel cut boxes in the front and rear of the car. They trip to the off position, cut fuel pump power and need to be reset after an accident. Seems like I could break the circuit going to one of those boxes to shut the engine off. Anybody done it that way?

I don't think it will cut the fuel as quickly as disabling the injectors. Your injectors will still operate until the fuel pressure drops.

Agreed, you will waste a lot of fuel and run lean as the fuel pressure decays and the injectors keep firing. You should look for a way to cut the injectors off.
This is the one advantage of my throttle-body injector - just one wire to interrupt! |
I didn't think about that. Ill have to figure out how to shut the injectors down. Im sure ill be a pioneer in this venture as there arent any other Mustang guys doing this.

OH! Post your results and build when you get them... |
I agree that the fuel pump is not the way to go. Here is how I did mine. Not a Mustang, but a Ford.

Just a note on my Bonneville I can cut the power to the fuel pump and at idle it will run for 10-30sec before it stumbles and kills the engine.

If you have a hard time finding a switch that will work you might be able to use a relay that is driven by the momentary switch.
|
So you think a common 40a relay would do?
