More areo out of a Metro

I am considering cutting the rear of the car off right behind the door(2dr) were the window starts and tapper down to the rear of the car to the hatch. My question is how important is the side tapper in overall CD? In my mind I envision the look of a 63 split window vette how it tappers down from the roof and from the sides. I think this would be the best overall. What do you guys think?

Depending on the construction you could get a good amount of weight reduction out of it for an added bonus. Maybe a bent cromoly tube frame with fiberglass skin.

side taper

The aeroshell on my truck has the plan taper and is good for 13% mpg increase, over a 10%,typical of a straight-sided aeroshell.
You won't want to make the sides any 'faster' than the roof, and you may actually need to make them a bit 'slower',as the flow is slower on the sides and if mismatched you'll create attached vortices with high drag just as in a bad fastback design.
A windtunnel model would be one of the few ways to iron it all out.

Do you have a pic of the 13% cap?
