Hi,

Does your Yaris have a tachometer? If so, I'd be curious to know the RPM's at say 55-60mph. Do you know what your top gear and final drive ratios are? TIA

Good job on the efficiency increase, and with no mods of course

I don't see what is with this forum's fascination with aero/engine mods increasing FE when changes in the driving habits can make such a big difference, just look at palemelanesian's numbers, even mine are respectable and the only thing ive done is increase the tire pressure.

Neil: No, unfortunately, my Yaris doesn't have the tachometer. I didn't want to pay for the whole power package or anything like that.

Seraph: Yeah, it seems like just driving 55 on the highway is the way to go, though today I was doing 55 in a 65 all the way from New Haven to Hartford, and I pretty much felt like I was gonna die at times. It's a notoriously fast road and I rarely ever see police clocking people on it. Not that it would help, because the idiots just jam on the gas pedal after the squad car is out of sight...

I rented an automatic Yaris in New England for a week last July, taking my 15 yo grandson along wherever I went. I averaged 42+ mpg for three tanks, using whatever tire pressure the rental car company filled them to. Great little car for mileage.

New personal best (again)... my last half-tank showed over 44 mpg!

Granted, this is 95% highway driving, but I'm still very happy with the way things are going. I may get a ScanGauge for Christmas, too!

Yeah, I know, it's slightly better, but not by that much. In any event, basjoos has us beat handily.
