Re: Ferrari: while I've not looked into their financials, I have my doubts as to just how profitable the consumer car biz is even for them. They rake in a lot from racing. Regardless, I don't think they have a comparable bidness model to Apetera or Messla.

I don't know anything about their financials, but if that's true, I'd find it very surprising. For most car companies, racing seems to be something they spend money on for the advertising. Witness the reports of various companies shutting down their racing programs due to current economic conditions...

Heh, no way that'll happen - I already have an overpowered sports coupe, probably the first and last one I'll ever buy. When we buy a replacement for my wife's sedan, it'll be a station wagon or a hatchback...probably a diesel.
