My Buddies Truck
Hey all,
So this is my buddies truck:
As you can see, he uses it for towing his Jeep when we all go wheeling, as well as for the camper. It is diesel, so that helps. He's not an aero modder, but looking to get him addicted like I now am. Any recommendations on what he can do for some better FE? I'll send him a link to this thread.
Thanks!

Slowing down is probably going to have the most profound effect, and watching brake use.

What Daox said, plus air up the tires in both the truck and trailer.
Leave the camper off when it isn't needed.

Wow, that's one tall order. Can't do much worse though.
There's no point in helping the upward flow, so directing of to the side is the only real option.
Suggestions:
-Air dam
-Stronger rear springs (prevent air build up and safety), or level front
-"Vee" air deflection at front of camper, cab to camper gap, door to camper transition, and bed portion of running boards.
-A bug guard may not be a bad thing here.
-Under tray
-Remove mud flaps including forward part of running boards.
-Remove sunvisor
-Smaller mirror heads
Trailer
-Smooth wheel covers
-fender transitions (fore/aft)
-V-nose the front
-Flat bottom
-Adjust brakes loose
Engine, diesel correct?(going off of bumper openings)
-Cold air intake
-Chip if powerstroke
-Exhaust
So much more possible....
Whats the top of the camper look like?

A kammi back at the back of the camper that doubles as an awning. and a pair of tapered "thingies" at the back that can be used for tables when camping when installed they look like this

Is the camper permanently mounted on the bed?

Remove the camper, cut a channel about 18" wide directly out of the middle, re-install camper.

This, but the sides should come back to the rear of the truck on the trailer.

That camper looks very comfortable, but sure kills some mileage. If he could fit some fairings to cover the edges between the camper and the truck body it would already help. Take a look at the Ford Aeromax big rig, it should bring you some inspiration.
