If memory serves me, my friend's late 60's Porsche 911 T had a small lever next to the emergency brake handle, which would allow manipulation of the throttle.
I thought that its premise was to set a fast idle for warmup. Merl used it on the Ventura Freeway as a crude speed control.
I've no recollection whether or not, a 'bacon-saver' function was engineered into the device.
