My new home office audio amplifier

It's been about 5 years since I put together an audio amplifier. This one needed to be built into a salvaged case - also used the original heatsinks plus power switch, etc.
  • 200W mono LM3886 BTL amplifier boards x 2
  • 40,000µF capacitance, 35A rectifier power supply module x 2
  • 300VA, 25-0-25V toroidal transformer x 2

Original salvaged amp (kept blowing internal fuses):

New amp:

Heatsinking of rectifier and outputs:

Working hard:

Happy with it - plenty of power, low noise, low distortion.

Nice work. I keep looking for a stand-alone stereo amp to replace the self-powered desktop speakers I'm using now. All I find in the second hand shops is receivers and karaoke machines.

Was the original salvaged amp home-brew or commercial? Red paint or powder coat?

Thanks. Just paint - this is a budget project. The salvaged amp was an Australian-built (so probably small quantities) commercial PA amp.

If you want just a small amp, cheapest now is to buy a prebuilt board from somewhere like Banggood and power it from a plug-pack (wall wart) eg https://www.banggood.com/15W-TDA7297...r_warehouse=CN Just add a better heatsink and a box. They have a big variety at various pricing.
