Fortran and fortran file processing derivatives for Scientific number crunching. I would hate to run COBOL on this for calculations, algol would be impossible, as many others used in the business world for file maintenance.

All they need do is run GPT-3 (or higher). It's a few-shot learning algorithm.

GPT-3, specifically the Codex model, is the basis for GitHub Copilot, a code completion and generation software that can be used in various code editors and IDEs. GPT-3 is used in certain Microsoft products to translate conventional language into formal computer code.
The specific language is just an abstraction layer.

True but unless you really really want to write a compiler specific for your task and machine... Gonna have to use a canned system with it's associated glitches and benefits.

I suppose if you write a compiler, you could write it in assembly or machine, although your gpt thingee looks interesting. Does it also create a instructor/manual?

Tried it once, failed the class (twice). Prolly too stoopid anymore.

Like the reviews where they say it's as dumb as a box of rocks, but a really smart box of rocks.

"GPT-3 often performs like a clever student who hasn't done their reading trying to bull**** their way through an exam. Some well-known facts, some half-truths, and some straight lies, strung together in what first looks like a smooth narrative."
– Julian Togelius, Associate Professor researching A.I. at NYU, read tweet

They promise a lot. It is however an internet trained AI

Fails a turing test in the example.

The link I provide to GPT-3: A Hitchhiker's Guide includes reviews from Hacker News with multiple caveats.

I used to follow Hacker News more when i worked at Symantec.. https://news.ycombinator.com/news
