Ecomods are insignificant compared with the FE gains you'll get from educating your right foot and airing the tires up to sidewall maximum. I'd leave the car alone & drive slower.

I do appreciate all the input. It is helping. I am formulating approaches to use on the wife. I will address all topics, to the best of my ability.

slowmover - I was a KC130 mechanic. Both the T model in Texas and the J model in North Carolina. I deployed to Iraq with both platforms. I am in a new job and I just returned from Afghanistan doing this. Working on KC-130s was MUCH safer.

brucepick - when I had the Grand Prix, I was going 5 over sidewall max. Never had a problem with the tires and the car handled great. That is the primary reason I want to take the pressure up to sidewall max now. I am sure the tire will be fine. I do not drive fast enough to generate excessive amounts of heat into it.

RickRae - I would love to remove the backseat, but unfortuneately the wife does like to use it now and again and we sometimes throw some of the kids back there as well. I know there is plenty of weight to be lost there. With the car only weighing in at 2693 (factory weight) I am sure it would look better on FE to drop some weight ( i am working on the same, but I cannot lose that much). I will try to use some tape and see what that does. I guess that is a good first step in convincing the wife to let me play with the car some.

SentraSE-R - Honestly if I drive any slower, I am going to get flattened by some of these North Carolina boys in their huge trucks. I am surprised most of them see me now. USUALLY, I will do 50 in a 55. I am in Virginia now doing some training and there are a couple of bypasses on the trip up here. They are 70 PSL, and I will do no more than 60. I am trying to find the balance between safety and fuel economy. I want good FE, but I do not want to be going so slow that I endanger everyone else around me; yes the do give tickets for it. I have seen one such ticket here in VA.

On another note, I ordered my UG the other day. They are not shipping orders until the 30th. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the weekend.

I think a trip to the dealer for a little chat and a role of clear tape will be the first things to do. And talking to the wife, haha .
