need help to install a starter button switch

What is the best way to connect a starter button switch on a '99 civic?

Basically I'd like to know where to connect or splice the wires that lead to the button.

Not a civic, but I wired my auxiliary starter circuit directly to the start terminal on the starter. I did this mainly to leave the factory wiring unmolested, this would work on any car that has a stud and nut start terminal, but not if your starter terminal has a connector

You got 2 choices. Ground the starter solenoid or close the start/run key switch. Does it matter if you have the car shifted to neutral or park to start it, do you want any safety interlocks I guess?

starter button switch

2000mc, how did you wire the starter and relay?

Cobb, starting would be in neutral, or else in gear with the clutch down.
Idk what a safety interlock is, but would prefer to not go through the firewall if possible.

I have worn out several ignition switches through the years, just by turning the car off while waiting for lights, so I'd really like a starter switch, not only for convenience but also to save the ignition.

Someone posted to run a wire from the switch, cram it in one of the holes for the starter fuse, and run the other wire from the switch to the (small) ground wire attachment from the starter. A relay can be used. Would it work to splice into a main ignition wire, and the ignition ground wire?

I hardly know anything, but I have been on here enough to remember some things and\or I know where to look. I do not have any idea how to be any help here, but when you figure it out, please try to explain it simply enough for me to do!

I used a 4 pin relay rated for 40A, fuse holder w/ heavy gauge wire and a 30A fuse, some heavier (10gauge?) wire, and some smaller (18gauge) wire, momentary switch, and a few ring terminals.

The power coming into my fuse block connects with a large ring terminal bolted down, added a second ring terminal there, going to the fuse holder, then from the fuse holder to pin 30 on the relay. Pin 85 is powered by a jumper from pin 30. I ran the output from pin 87 with 10gauge wire to the start terminal. Pin 86 is ran with 18gauge to the momentary switch mounted inside, the other side of the switch is wired to ground.
