I vote local B7 but using your Z6 head. Could be the cheaper option, with less down time and theres nothing like opening your own bottom end and knowing all your tolerances.

And keep the Z6 to rebuild for a backup or whatever purpose down the road. Would even have good resale.

The top motors have 2 o2 sensors, meaning they are OBD2, unless JDM is different than USDM with o2 sensors? Bottom one is a 3 stage, you can tell by the 2 VTEC solenoids.
I don't think that's an o2 sensor there, take a look at this one below. Does not look like its an o2 or is it? The connector looks different.

There are jdm vtec-e engines on eBay with an auto tranny attached. They are labelled d15b. Only way to tell is the vtec-e valve cover.

I drive almost the same amount of miles as you do. I've done it with a b7, y8, and z1 in a hatch and my sedan swap. I like the z1 by far. Yea the swap was more involved but I get 50mpg average without any aero mods or eoc. I can go 4 days without filling up rather than 3 with ab7

Now you make me wanna go the z1 route. I really want to get the most I can out of the gas. I think I may go z1, unless something else changes my mind.

doing a z1 auto would be interesting. i think one other guy wanted to run an auto with a lean burn engine i think his name is tony on this forum. i think he was going to run a 3 stage though. if you decide on doing it you might be the first. so thers no real guarantee on the mileage return.

either way your best bet is to get your ideas on paper with pros, cons, and price comparison. keep in mind the z1s more expensive oxygen sensor, and added egr parts etc.

It looks like it might be an exhaust temperature sensor. I had a JDM Suzuki exhaust manifold with one in it.

Luckily I have all components such as harness, egr box, p07-900 ecu and o2 sensor. I figured if with my auto z6 I could hit 47mpg then with a auto z1 I could hit the 50's.

I would need to get a d15 block, I cant even find one around me at the moment. I think I am looking at z1 swap and a z6 rebuild, and save the z6 for another application or sell it.
