New battery revealed in Canada that gives EVs over 5 million miles for 20% lifespan loss.

Jeff Dahn from Tesla Battery tech involved.
Watching...

Edit:
Ye... yet more clickbait.
It's battery lifespan, not "it's stays charged forever"
Thumbs down.

I came looking for a thread that this would fit in:
The Tesla Prophecy is True! | Tesla Time News 432 -- 9:40
Quote:
EV Batteries May Last Longer
9:35 ...so a new study out from Stanford
9:42 published in nature energy shows that we might not have been testing EV batteries the right way at least that's what
9:48 Simona orori the senior author of the paper says she says to our surprise real driving with frequent acceleration
9:54 braking that charges the batteries a bit stopping to pop into a store and letting the batteries rest for hours at a time
10:00 helps batteries last longer than we had thought based on industry standard lab tests

Issue isn't so much storing the charge as it is the generation of insulating compounds that take time to develop and retarded high power outputs. Have couple 20 year old lipos of dubious chemistry that indicate full charge, but do not provide more than a small percentage of full current. If I was running a single small LED, they would be OK, but they wont even initiate a start sequence in the electric motor controls I have.
