Well I'm giving up on hauling engines in the back of my festiva.

Which means:

Boattail or closer to it. I didn't want to lose visibility so I extended the kammback another foot, and closed off the sides. I also finished the belly pan so it connects to the boattail. It's not perfect because of the exhaust being in the way but I think it should help.

My question is how much if any would I help to enclose the rear portion?

Since I can reached my goal of 60MPG at 60 MPH, I'm hoping these mods give me closer to 64-65MPG now at 60MPH.

Next mod is to put a kill switch on the alternator and see if it helps. I have 5 spare batteries at the moment so the cost is nothing.

Oh and it will be getting painted white....Can't complain about free sheet metal even if dirty.

I haven't updated in awhile. I blew the headgasket doing a top speed run. 106 MPH on level ground.

I fixed it and it appears to be running great. Hoping to get some new MPG results shortly to confirm if it helped at all or just repaired a problem. I also haven't got any new numbers with the extended boat tail so that is on the list of things to do.

Man what ever happened to this? This sure was fun to read lol. Read the entire thing while at Sears as my wife shopped for 3 hrs and almost killed me with boredom lol. But this thread kept me well entertained haha. I have a 92 GL Sport but its so clean i dread screwing anything into it while doing a aero mod lol. I rather buy a different Festiva to hack and do some crazy things to it like done here. Loved reading this and hope to see more of this soon!
