New DeLorean EV!

Delorean plans to offer a revamped EV version of its iconic car

At $95,000, it looks like it will be just slightly out of my price range.

By about $80,000.

Still kind of neat. I've always thought the Delorean is a beautiful looking car.

Hopefully this time they will make the frame stainless as well. I've heard that was their achillies heal. (besides poor build quality) The steel frame under a stainless body, would rust out.

I wouldn't count on it. On their site on the service page they hint at the 30 year old epoxy coated frames needing replacement or repair. That to me hints "factory" replacement.

$95k is probably for the pimped out version. After the hype has calmed down there should be a cheaper version - no leather interior, no gold (or maybe stainless?) badges, no time machine, etc.

I don't think the price is going to drop much, it's a limited production vehicle.

I think it is a composite structure with stainless steel panels?

The supplier for the electrics is called Flux Power.

From the article:

"Can you believe we made it through this entire post without a Back To The Future reference? The DMCev can't do it, though, with a license plate that reads "Gas? Where we're going we don't need gas" and a battery that carries the "Flux Power" nickname."
