New to the group

I found out about this site in USA today, and figured I would give it a shot. I do drive an SUV (Xterra) and my factory MPG is rated at like 16/20, however I have the 6 speed manual and have observed up to 25 mpg average on a tank before. I don't think I'll ever hit much higher than 30, but any tips are more than welcome. I know it is a truck, but Im curious to see just how many mpg's I can squeeze out of it.

if you don't use that MASSIVE roof rack you might want to consider taking it off that should be a decent start.

Its a 2008, and that roof rack is massive. I have been considering taking it off for a while now, as I have no use for it.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, my desktop died! Its a 2wd. I originally wanted the 4wd but opted out of it. I don't do any serious off roading anyway

My commute is about 15 mins at 80 mph, but I have been experimenting with slowing down, and it takes about 25 mins at 65 mph. I live a ways away from Charlotte and merging into traffic is always crazy, so I have tried to get my speed going sooner so that I don't rev as high. That alone has raised my MPG's a little, as well as a drop in K&N. I routinely average 25 on the hwy now. I have hit 30 a couple times, shockingly , as that 4.0 likes to get rather thirsty at times!
