New Guy from Florida

hello every one name is Dave i own a 99 f350 diesel im joining the site to help me get better fuel economy. the truck is my daily work vehicle. i own a welding and hydraulics business i am trying to see if i can get better economy out of it since less fuel = better bottom line at the end of the month.

99 f350 4x4 7.3 cold air intake, 4" turbo back intake, ts performance 6 position chip. solid 14 mpg average

No idling and "warming up". So many evidently think diesels are never supposed to be shut off once they're started (not saying you do) while all it takes is a turn of the key for a restart.

Do you have to pass emissions tests in Florida?

My buddy has a 08 F350 with the turbo diesel 6.4 and gets better milage than me in my Explorer with 4.0 V6. All he has done is some exhaust mods and a performance chip.

Perhaps not great for the environment but helps the wallet and gets more power at the same time.

nope no emissions test down here my truck did not even bring a catalytic from factory, i ripped off the whole exhaust and have a 4" straight pipe all the way back and put a ts performance chip on it , and frank lee i know what you mean i try to shut it off every time i get out, unless im eating lunch and it is 1000* outside
