I think it may be a matter of taste. And the prevalence of potholes.
I bought aftermarket anti-roll bars for my Type II panel van and put the 1 1/8" bar on the back, but they shipped stock bushings for the front bar and said 'just drill them out'. I'd never drilled out rubber bushings and decided that the rear bar only improved the handling so much I didn't want it to go back to the way it was, but stiffer.
So it's the front/rear antiroll ratio that's important. And the antiroll/sprung proportion as well.
My Flathead Ford had a hole in the muffler, but the length of the port inside the block muffled it enough that it had an awesome idle, but never got loud on the throttle.
