New here! This site is awesome!

Hey guys, Ive been lurking on this site for just about a week now. I drive a 2008 Honda civic lx coupe. My best tank so far has been 43mpg all highway about two years ago @ about 70mph. Now after reading a bunch of threads over this past week I have learned about shutting off your car at lights and P&G. Before I added these techniques to my driving, my last fill up I averaged 29mpg combined city/hw. Now a week later my combined gas mileage has jumped up to 37mpg! Thats 27% over epa! I'm loving this site and already have materials in for aero mods. -Josh

...the "number ONE thing" to do if you really want to increase your fuel economy, is to KNOW what's happening (mpg-wise) as you're driving.

...and, the *best* tool for that is the ScanGauge II

...just being able to "see" what's happening (mpg-wise) as you drive and react to traffic, wind, hills, stop lights, etc. is going to TEACH you what to minimize (avoid) and what to maximize (light foot, coast, etc.). The car's gonna be the SAME, but *how* you drive it will definitely change!

...think of the SGII as an electronic version of the proverb: "...a picture is worth a 1,000 words..." where the SGII displays are *showing* you what WORKS as well as what HINDERS your mpg.

...for instance, are you aware that driving along side a semi-truck will "cut" your instantaneous mpg by -30 percent, ie: from 45-50'ish, down to 30-35'ish?

SO far Im averaging upper 30's by just P&G, and thats with mostly city driving! I dont have any doubts that 40's will be seen much more often now! and yes, I do want a SG2 really soon, just have to save up for one now!
