I have a 1982 Dodge D150 with a /6 and 904with lockup.Shortbed truck got 11mpg when purchased.Replaced stock ignition [leanburn]with home made HEI conversion.Got 20mpg on last tank.Just getting started on mods.

Welcome to the site.
Are you saying that replacing your ignition alone almost doubled your mileage? Excuse me, but that sounds a bit far fetched. Care to explain?

The original ignition was the dodge "lean burn" computor.I replaced the distibutor with an electronic distributor with mechanical and vacuum advance.I used a HEI module from a 1980 gm distibutor to control the coil.The original was not advancing the spark,all I had was initial advance.
