New Nissan Note/Versa
Here's a new upcoming Nissan model that looks a lot like the Honda Fit:
2013 Nissan Versa Hatchback Previewed By New Nissan Note
The Note has a 1.2L 3-cylinder supercharged engine, but no word on the US version Versa will have.

Probably something way bigger with disappointing MPG ratings.

Nissan North America has now followed that news by announcing that the next Versa hatchback will use the same platform, and echo many of the Note's styling cues.
|
So NOT the same car we're getting in the US. The versa Hatch was called Tiida in japan and based on the previous Clio platform. The new note looks awkward.

why do car manufacturers insist on giving us consumers downforce producing turns at the tail of the vehicles?

I'm not sure what you're referring to? The Note/Versa has a pretty well formed Kamm back it seems to me.

they seem to put an upturn at the very tail of the vehicle (maybe to enhance separation). however, if one wanted to extend the kam further or go full boat tail it will not be as effective. the vehicle above shows this if you look closely, the previous model versas did the same to a larger degree.

The 2014 Nissan Note/Versa will have a Cd of 0.29 which is pretty good for this size car, and it should have a 40MPG Highway rating.

The previous article indicates it will be just the 4-cylinder, but if they're smart I think they might want something to compete with the Spark and the new Mirage that is (hopefully) coming in the fall.
