Love the Kei car styling. :)

Quote:

powered by Suzuki’s famous 660CC three-cylinder engine with a fuel consumption of 37 km/L
37 km/L = 87 mpg US = 2.7 L/100 km

Keep in mind, that rating is based on the Japanese fuel economy test cycle, which is famously optimistic.

For comparison, the current Toyota Prius liftback is rated at 89.4 mpg US on the Japanese system. In the U.S. it has a 50 mpg (21.3 km/L) combined EPA rating.

In that perspective, it kind of takes the wind out of the little Suzuki's sails. I'm not familiar enough with the Kei class of cars to know how the Alto compares to its direct competitors.

In 2011, Suzuki launched the Alto Eco variant, that features the R06A engine lifted from the Suzuki MR Wagon and an idling stop function. It is capable of reaching the fuel economy of 30.2 km/L (71MPG) based on Japan's JC08 Mode test cycle (32 km/L under 10-15 test cycle). This is .2 km/L higher than the Daihatsu Mira e:S. Wikipedia

Are both of Japanese test mode not close to reality?
On positive side it would be just around 7000$ and it's worth to keep it while getting hold on middle eastern oil and 0% import duty on JDM in Pakistan :)
PHEV don't even stand a chance in Pakistan we always have expensive electricity shortfall :(

Reminds me of a Fiat Panda from years back.

Nice... but what if you want, err need, a car that has 17" rims?

That is a cool little car. I love the slotted grill!

That front clip doesn't seem to help aerodynamically-wize, it looks like a brick.

StarchedPie 07-28-2022 01:13 AM

Sorry about the thread necromancy, but I have one of these!
Got it about 10 months ago, really love it. Does about 60mpg in the city, but yep, definitely as aerodynamic as a brick. Absolutely no undertray, and not even an aero rear spoiler (there is a perfect spot for one, though). Got it at a good price considering its fuel consumption and its odometer, especially with how expensive the second hand market is in Australia right now.

Welcome.

What's first? Moon disks?

StarchedPie 07-28-2022 02:22 AM

First big mod will be undertray; going for "invisible" mods first. I have new rims on the way from japan (too small to get locally! - 13x4.5 - which I'll be able to get LLR tires for) so might tape over the holes on the current wheel covers in the meantime.
I have a 2500km road trip planned for 3 month's time, want to get most of the aero mods done before then!
Ultimate goal is to add about 5kW of electric assistance, which will help a lot to reduce the rpms needed for acceleration, since normally I only do city driving.
