Ok just thought I would give everyone an update. The truck got 29 mpg hwy when I got it (same as EPA sticker on the window) with stock 225/70/15 Continental Contitrac tires. Then I put on some heavy and aggressive 235/75/15 LT rated M/S Dunlop RVXT tires and my mileage went to about 26 mpg hwy.

Then, thanks to this thread and the thread listing the consumer reports results on low rolling resistance tires, I got the Michelin X-Radial DTs from Costco in 215/75/15 and just got 32 mpg with about 2/3 highway and 1/3 city!

So thanks everyone for all the help, and for anyone considering these X radial they are really delivering.

Excellent MPG! Do some hypermiling and I'd bet you eek out a couple/3 more MPGs. Glad you went with the "fuel economy" tires.

Yeah, me too. Actually the local Discount Tire said they would match Costco on the price of the LTXs but I decided to go with the X Radial for fuel efficiency--and I'm really glad I did.

BTW, looking at your vehicles, before this mazda I had a couple of metros and before that an f250 powerstroke!
