New wheels, 99 Saab 9-5 Wagon
So I ended up selling the Insight a guy at work offered me a deal I couldn't really refuse. The Jeep is on the chopping block as well. Reason for, my financial aide when down the tube with the recent set of fee hikes and budget cuts, along with a recent need to help pay the bills for my parents and siblings.
It had treated me well, and everything was fully functional, but with the way things look for me in the next couple of years I wouldn't be able to afford nor have the ability to make any repairs if anything came up.
Was it stupid and will I regret it? Probably. But bills and loans need to be paid and I needed the $$$.
So I recently picked up a 99 Saab 9-5 Wagon for cheap. Just needed a water pump, a half dozen different gaskets and probably some other junk. Its a 2.3L 4 pot LPT 5 speed. According to wiki the cars CoD is around 0.31. I was looking for the sedan which has a CoD of 0.29, but the price was too good.
Been too busy with work, but poking around it looks like the under body is a bit of a mess. Most of the exhaust routing is not too badly tucked away but it could use a flat bottom and some wheel deflectors.
Initial driving impressions is that the turbo is setup in a similar fashion to the Insight's IMA. When you are about to die and you floor it, it'll kick in, else you run off the motor. Unfortunately in 99 it doesn't come with a boost gauge so I'm not sure how true that is. But the butt dyno claims that.
So far I'm thinking up grill block, belly pan and some covers for the wheels. The PO put new tires on it so it'll be a bit before I can try some LRR tires.
