No, not my Son... it's a 2001 Saturn L200!

I found this one on craigslist Binghamton... the car was in Owego (Newark Valley).

I figured it's time for Granny to retire, and my dad wants her, so I bough this one for $300 to replace her for my wife.

Here's the video detailing the adventure bringing her home with a '98 4 Cylinder Chevrolet S-10!

Sorry for the poor quality of the videos, but it's kinda hard to get a good shot, shift, steer, drive, play with a phone, etc... safely.

Safety is more important than making sure you guys see "all the good bits" LOL.

Feel free to yell at me for abusing that poor GM truck... ROFL. If that engine ever dies, it's definitely getting a diesel swapped in... something with balls.

300 bucks? That's pretty cool. I hope it's an easy repair.

Engine, which may be covered by a NHTSA recall, so I might have just made one hell of a deal.

There are some small dents here and there, but nothing serious. It needs cleaned up, etc.

New tires, was just inspected before it broke down, so everything is good on it. Came with a pair of winter tires as well.

As far as hitting 40 MPG, it's my wife's car... I probably will not be driving it all that much, so maybe we'll shoot for >30MPG.

The Saturn goes in today (Tuesday) for service.

Turns out the closest dealer to me is in Binghamton, and I have to tow it, though Saturn will reimburse me for the tow if the dealer does the recall service.

Dealer says that they'll replace the timing chain kit, but they won't replace anything else that's wrong w/ the engine, if anything. I say this is BS, because the timing chains are on a mandatory recall from NHTSA, and if it broke/slipped, and anything in the (interference) engine was damaged as a result of the faulty chain, it should also be replaced under the recall.

If they choose to only replace the timing chain, I'll be speaking with Saturn again, in the event that there was other damage that should be attributable to the timing chain problem, such as bent valves, broken pistons, etc.

I spun the cams over, and didn't notice any rockers lifting away from the valve stems, but that isn't the correct way to check, as minute bends won't show with this method.
