Hi from OUR FAIR CITY!

Yes that is Cambridge, MA of click and clack fame.

I have become interested in modifications to my cars to increase mileage. I have been driving more like the hypermilers than less since I retired and time constraints are not so important any more.

I have several vehicles that could stand some work. A Buick Le Sabre 1994 model is one and a Volvo 242GT 1979. The Freedom Vehicle is a very interesting idea too.

One of the things that is most puzzling to me is why there has not been as much work done on basic thermal efficiency in gasoline engines in particular. We are lucky to see 20% and usually much less.

Good to meet you! I just joined as well so I will just latch on to the thread and let everybody know I'm a newbie from Oregon. Just drive across the country on alternative fuel for the first time!

veggiefoil Good job crossing the country on alternate fuel. That is something that I would like to do someday. I have driven Coast to Coast across the US and Canada about 12 times including 2 circumnavigations of the 48 contiguous states. What was it and what did you drive/ride? BTW I am a native of the state of Oregon myself. Ontario, Oregon to be exact.
