For geothermal energy, sure. (In fact, there's a geothermal powerplant just a few miles up the road from me.) But I was thinking the geothermal energy (or wind, wave, etc) to power electric cars, and there the big issue (as always) is range. That's a lot less of an issue in Hawaii & islands of similar or smaller size than it would be around Yellowstone.
