[QUOTE=IsaacCarlson;182285]I bet it could weld, but it is kind of bent up from being hauled to the dump. I don't think the previous owner was interested in saving it. I stayed up late last night finishing the platform for the tank. And.....I did it all with a chainsaw! Here are some pics. It did drizzle here today and I managed to get about 15 gallons or so. It works just the way it is supposed to.

If the tank has screw in fittings in the top similar to a barrel, you could use compressed air to increase the amount of head available. You would need to put a ball valve into the drain from the collector.

Make sure that you have a small screen on the opening to keep bugs from laying eggs in the water.

Get some cheap cloth and fiberglass the dish. Since you have two you could set one stepped up from the other and use them both to collect to one tank.

The compressed air is a no go. The tank would never keep it's shape if you applied pressure....the top would blow out/up. I like the fiberglass idea a lot. The two big dishes will sit higher than the first if I can get everything set up the way I want it. There are only a few inches of water in the tank and the pressure is already good. I don't think I need any more head. There is enough pressure to get a good spray by putting my thumb over the hose. I guess it doesn't take much. Again, I LOVE THE FIBERGLASS IDEA. I did not even think of doing that. KUDOS.

Thumbs up Fiberglass

It's a great idea, but if you want to save even more money as I think he stated already you can just use any synthetic fabric, like polyester or rayon or nylon if you can get it cheaper and then use the polyester resin to secure it to the dish and make it waterproof. Again great idea.
