NYC approve congestion pricing

Yesterday, the New York City Council voted to in favor of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s proposal to introduce congestion pricing on the clogged streets of Gotham. The measure passed in a 30-20 vote. Bloomberg spoke at a press conference after the vote.

It is a step in the right direction, but probably won't amount to much change in the short term. The tolls went from 6 to 8 bucks to get into lower manhattan, so we'll see if it really discourages anyone.

This type of charge has been in place in London for a number of years and it has made no difference to the volume of traffic whatsoever.

What it has done is raise millions in revenue now isn't THAT a surprise?

It was suggested here (Melbourne , Australia) as well and the Mayor suggesting ti was told he wouldn't be in power long enough to see it work.
It is still "under consideration" !
