IRC Anyone?

Anyone here think it would be a good idea to set up an ecomodder irc channel?

could be a place to randomly hang out and kill time

so if anyone wants to join me go to #ecomodder on efnet

http://chat.efnet.org/ is a good way to get on irc if you haven't used mirc or some other stand alone program before.

Just put in a nick and #ecomodder for the channel

I can't find the EFnet server on X-chat, they have a efnet listing, but it has a ton of sub servers... tried the other link as well and nothing was there.
I really like IRC, one of the best chat programs out there, perfect for forums.

the server i am currently connected to is irc2.choopa.net

I have trillian set to connect to a random us efnet server and that seems to work well. irc.prison.net seems to be a pretty stable server that i use when nothing else seems to work.

Well the channel hasn't had really much in the way of conversation.

There have been 15 or so people join the channel sit there for a minute then leave. So I don't think this counts as a success. But I will leave the window open on my computer and if a few other people that use trillian or some other client that has irc built in join and idle on there maybe it will pick up. But if not no biggie, nothing ventured nothing gained

Sorry to really raise the dead with this thread, but is the IRC channel still active? I'd love to add EM to my IRC list

I haven't been on it in months so I doubt it It never did get a critical mass of people in it so I think it just died out and nobody really cared.

Maybe instead of IRC we could set up a XMPP/Jabber conference that way people could just use their normal IM client and it would be easier to maintain chats and keep the nuts and spammers out.

I am still up for something, just have to get enough users on there to be worthwhile.

Yeah, I would be up for something, too. Well, we can always start something, and then just re-announce it to the world

I am founder of a couple support channels on Freenode. If you think about setting it up as IRC again, I can give you a hand maintaining it.
