I read an interview with Mr. Young where he claimed his favorite technique for writing songs in the 1970's and 80's was to have his chauffeur drive him around town in his big Lincoln while Neil sat in the back writing based on what he saw and heard from the car. Not a very low carbon songwriting technique.
