Ordered new tires yesterday: Kumho eco Solus KR22

Just ordered some new tires for the CRX. Kumho eco Solus KR22... Tire rack rates them as a LRR tire and I was able to get them in 175/70-R13.

Just throwing it out there as another option for folks still running 13" wheels.

Pictures too! I like to stare at and/or compare the tread patterns. It's like reading tea-leaves, but without the tea.

Well, I had the tires installed on Friday and drove around a bit this weekend. Also filled up this morning and checked my FE. Best tank so far, 54MPG!!! I think this had a little to do with the tires, a little to do with the VX wheels, and a lot to do with the driver. Just being smarter on the road, trying to time green lights, letting the car slow on uphills and regain the speed on the downside. At lights that I just catch red and know are long I shut the car off, and I've been waiting to start the car until I am ready to get moving, rather than the first thing I do when I get in it.

If I'm consistently getting 50's before any aero mods, before loweing the car, and before my D15Z1 swap, I'm very anxious to see what happens afterwards!

As far as the tires go, they are a bit noisy at low speeds, but that seems to actually go away as speed increases. the ride quality is as good as I can expect at 40psi and 190k on the original suspensions clock. Handling is adequate, but I can really tell the difference when coasting... these tires really are LRR compared to the old bridgestones I pulled off. It is incredible how long before a red light I can go to neutral. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

...does that 54MPG include any milage adjustment due to a different rolling diameter (rims & tires)?

..."Congratulations," by the way!

None of my mileage calculations have accounted for differences in rolling diameter, since I have never had stock size diameter on the car since I've owned it.

Thanks!

Good to hear there is a noticeable difference. I'll probably be ordering a set for myself soon. Just gotta try and find myself a set of VX wheels.

Just got my Kumho eco Solus's on too... 175/70/13s as well. Got about half a tank in with them and pulled off my best tank since last fall... 53.4mpg. It's important to note last fall I had a very worn down set of old tires (wouldn't pass inspection), and now I'm near that on a brand new set of 11/32" tread. The vac gauge shows a slight increase in load to hold cruising over the old baldies. I like em so far, time will tell if they get better as they break in. I do notice a "shimmy" from tires only when driving on longitudinal-grooved concrete pavement. My buddy said a set of Fuzion performance tires did the same thing as well.
