If you ask nicely, you might be able to skip the rebate to get the oil change for $10. My store let me do this, your luck will vary.

No, I don't work for Pep Boys, just passing along an okay deal for an oil change.

I wish they'd put full synthetics on specials like that...

I'd love to get a 0w20 oil change for $15 or $20... instead, I pay $22 for a bottle of Mobile1 0w30. I still have gone over 7k miles on it now, so I guess it's not that bad of a deal, if you know that your oil doesn't need to be changed every 3k miles.

There's a $10 rebate on M1 0w-30 through Mobil.

Pennzoil 5w-20 I'd run for 7k miles easily. It's proven via analysis to withstand 7k changes with ease. A very strong conventional oil.

BTW, kudos to Bob Is The Oil Guy for keying me into these!

Sweet, I might have to go buy some for my Tacoma when I get it on the road! Never hurts to have 2-3 spare jugs, either.

Or not... there isn't one within an hour drive of me.

Just edited to correct confusion.

The M1 rebate is through Mobil, and is good anywhere you can get M1. You have to do a cheesy quiz, then it spits out a $10 rebate you print off.Drive Smarter Challenge

Ugh, Pep Boys. There's nothing wrong with a good deal, but these deals are ordinary if you neglect the mail-in rebate, which is fair because the claim rate on $5 MIRs is surely very low. Their competitiors' oil change of the month is priced around $15, which is about what you'd pay every day at Wal-Mart.

I have worked for AutoZone and Advance, and I don't feel that fact has swayed my opinion on the above.

Yes, but that requires you to trust the folks at an oil-change chain to work on your car.... No thanks.

Nearest Pep Boys is about 170 miles away in Grand Rapids.

I just go to Walmart and get the Mobil 1 Clean 5000, $11 for a 5 qt jug. At least that's how much it cost last time I bought it.
