PHEV using Allison H 50 EP

Has anyone tried using an Allison H 50 EP (or H 40 EP) hybrid transmission on a heavy truck? The H 40/50 EP is in widespread use on urban buses, especially in areas where they need to go electric only in bus tunnels. Input is 330hp diesel, output is 400hp. The geartrain is similar to Prius or the Ford Fusion PHEV that I drive.

Don't know, but you might generate some interest if you list what engines [or adapters] are fitted to them.

It sounds like another example of OEM parts making conversions more cost effective.

So it has a battery and electric motor to output the 400 HP?

Reminds me of the TED talk about turbine engine hybrid garbage trucks. More fuel efficient, lower maintenance, and compact enough to not compromise capacity.

I haven't found a comprehensive overview (it could be the 70hp difference), but this www.allisontransmission.com/en-gb/transmissions/models/h-40-50-ep says it does brake regen, and this fleetnewsdaily.com/allison-transmission-unveils-electric-component-option-buses-coaches/ says they can electrify accessories like air brakes and HVAC

It can use this www.greencarcongress.com/2014/09/20140909-allison.html 20kWh Li-ion battery pack.

The only heavy-duty hybrid setup for trucks and buses I have ever seen on the wild was the pancake motor and clutch module fitted to some Volvo and Scania products backed by an AMT.
