My wife keeps trying to one-up me

Yesterday I went out for a drive and broke 70mpg in my Insight. I had my MPGuino just a hair over 70 at a few points, though when I snapped a pic it was showing 69.74, which is an actual 70.64mpg taking into account my slightly larger tire size.

Today my wife sent me this after going out for a drive in her Fit.

After taking into account her oversized tires, that's 71.5mpg.

She doesn't share her fuel logs with me but I'm fairly certain she's beating my averages by a fair margin as well.

I have to say, the 2007-2008 Fit really impresses me. Steady-state driving at ~50mph seems to deliver 50mpg or so, with nothing but higher tire pressure and a grille block. This latest improvement in her economy came not very long after I explained my kill switch to her, and how pulse and glide work.

You are in an enviable position ...

1. Your wife appears to listen to what you say
2. Your wife is interested in fuel economy
3. She is giving you incentive to up your game - a Win-Win scenario

My wife is pretty good at pretending to listen to what I say ... is not interested in fuel economy ... oh well.

She does tolerate my various bad habits .. so it isn't all bad
