Sunnyvale, California January 2, 2009 – PLX Devices Inc. today introduced the Kiwi MPG. The Kiwi MPG is a small, low cost, device which displays your vehicle’s fuel efficiency information. This includes instantaneous MPG, trip MPG, and dollars of gas consumed in an easy to navigate 4 digit display.

The Kiwi MPG installs into any 1996 and up vehicle, in a matter of seconds. Kiwi MPG is a plug and play device which interfaces with your existing OBDII port, often located near or under your steering column. Its dimensions measure just 1 x 2.5 x 0.5 inches, which makes it ideal to be mounted virtually anywhere. Kiwi MPG will begin shipping in March 2009 for a suggested retail price of $89.99 (US).

I suppose this will prompt Linear Logic to follow suit. I would be surprised if they don't already have a "ScanGauge Jr" type of product designed and waiting in the wings.

Cool!!! Finally something I can use at a price that I can afford... :D

Interesting. It would be interesting to give this one a try. It is a good deal cheaper than the scangauge. However, it doesn't appear to be able to display more than one sensor reading at once like the scangauge does.

The big Kiwi would reset every time the ignition was cycled off. That includes shutting down at lights while stopped. I wonder if this one is the same. That's a deal-breaker to me.

Did you watch the YouTube blurb? It says there that at key off the MPG goes into a low power mode, and resumes at next start... which might mean an improvement...

I suppose (guess) it has a separate power tap, which could be wired to a constant hot. I wish they would get them out before March, so that someone could get one and tell the rest of us!

Ah, I missed that. Youtube no worky at work. :(

That's at least an improvement. It certainly LOOKS great, better than the SG.

The YouTube ad claims that it goes into standby mode and restarts where you left off.

I want to know what it's "settings" are. Do you input the engine and tank size ala SG? What are the "big Kiwi" setting inputs?

I do like it's form factor. Very convenient for installation.

This device only display number.
My OBDuino project can display all OBD information as well as MIL code, and fuel consumption for trip, tank, etc.

It's still in development and can cost half of this gizmo :)
