It would be easy to fab up a fairing to go over that, and you may be able to use thin sheetmetal "hooks" like the old school roof racks, that fit in that gap and hook your fairing to the edge of the glass. It would still allow full use of the hatch.

Since that hatch is glass you can simply look backward while tufting to get an idea of what's happening- no camera car needed. I did this with the Probe's rear window.

Man... I appreciate what they were going for there, like to illustrate that the Aztek is a "do anything" car - I love "do anything" cars! but.. that tent looks like a serious kluge.
